Seperating Personal from Business
I live my life online. I work online, network online, bank online, play online, buy stuff online and even talk about my life online. Now my life is completely lived online. So sometimes I wonder though if the transparency I display online in everything I do could have some negative implications.
The lines between personal and business for me are so blurred that I do not even know if it would be possible to separate the two. So I must keep on living as I do in a completely transparent manner but keep certain things to myself.
Of course certain parts of your life have to remain personal other things I think it is ok to put out there if it can help someone else when they are facing situations. For example I have a three year old son who has a cleft lip and palate and I share our experiences in dealing with his treatment(s), but I would never share family discourse online.
I give my opinion freely, engage others, debate, form opinions and conduct business because of my online persona, but it is not a persona as much as it is me. I am what I am and don't mind living my life this way. I just have to set the boundaries that are acceptable for myself and keep the lines as blurred as possible.
Has anyone else faced this personal question and how did you separate the two?
